Garret Mountain Reservation is a 568-acre public park on First Watchung Mountain in Passaic County, spanning parts of Paterson, Woodland Park, and Clifton. A major recreational area, it combines trails, picnic grounds, sports facilities, fishing at Barbour’s Pond, and an equestrian center with a prominent wooded ridge above the surrounding cities. Recognized in 1967 as part of the Great Falls of Paterson-Garret Mountain National Natural Landmark, it also includes Lambert Castle, built in 1892 by Catholina Lambert and later converted into the Passaic County Museum. The reservation preserves traces of older transportation corridors, supports rich migratory birdlife, and hosts major cross-country meets each autumn.
