Isaac Hammer, a pioneer settler from Pennsylvania and a minister of the Church of the Brethren, built a two-story log house in 1793 that stands 0.2 mile northwest on the Old Stage Road. Although it was not actually an inn, the house was often a stopping place for travelers along the stage road. Hammer is buried on the hill above the house.
