Navarre-Anderson Trading Post is the oldest surviving wooden structure in Michigan. Built in 1789, it was moved from its original Monroe site in 1894, and its history was discovered in 1969. From 1971 to 1991, the site underwent restoration through a joint effort of the Monroe County Historical Commission and the Monroe County Historical Society, supported by major contributors who donated the building, land, a kitchen building, a replica barn, funding, and other assistance, while numerous individuals served on the commission, the society, or the Society's Development Committee during the project.
