Capital to Coast Trail
Transportation
The Capital to Coast Trail is a planned 55-mile multi-use route across central New Jersey from Trenton on the Delaware River to Manasquan on the Atlantic coast. Developed in 2000 by Fred Lockenmeyer and Rudy Buser as a cross-state greenway, it follows the Interstate 195 corridor and joins parks, bikeways, and public lands into one route. Intended to become New Jersey’s third-longest trail, it has been assembled from existing and proposed segments rather than built all at once. Early progress included the 2006 incorporation of the Edgar Felix Bikeway in Allaire State Park and the 2008 opening of a 2.5-mile segment in West Windsor.
