Ferguson Streetcar Loop
Transportation
2
In 1901 at this site along Spot Drive, a loop was built as the end of the Ferguson streetcar line. In 1907, Ferguson joined Kirkwood, creating the longest streetcar line in St. Louis County. Streetcar service continued for half a century before being abandoned on February 28, 1948. The streetcar pictured was built for the 1904 World's Far, and mirrors were mounted between the wide windows to accommodate ladies on their way to the fair.
