Glenview Cemetery
History
3
In 1890, pioneers of the Town of Clements, Thomas Clements and Stillman Magee, gave a deed and one dollar with the request that the cemetery be named after the Clements family farm in Ireland. In 1895, it was incorporated as the Glenview Cemetery Association. Many families have contributed to preserving the cemetery, including Margaret Clements, who in 1948 donated bricks from the old Athearn School for the front gates that still stand today, and Ed Bamert, who donated the fence to complete the entrance. Today, many direct descendants of the original settlers continue to preserve Glenview Cemetery as a testament to the community values Clements and Magee instilled in 1890.
