From 1918 to 1938, Leipsic Junction was a transfer point where the Market St. Railway 40 Line running from San Francisco to San Mateo stopped to connect passengers with a locally owned line built by W. J. Martin. This connection carried workers to meat packing plants on East Grand Ave. and to other manufacturing plants.
