Brewster Cemetery
History
3
Founded in 1870 by Israel Swihart and named for his wife, Mary Brewster Swihart, Brewster Cemetery contains the graves of three Civil War veterans, several children who died amid the harsh conditions of life on the Great Plains, and unknown persons whose grave markers were ravaged by time and the elements. It stands as a memorial to the sturdy pioneers who lived and died while making a home on the Nebraska prairie.
