Warm Springs Wilderness is a 112,400-acre protected area in northwestern Arizona in the southern Black Mountains, within the Arizona portion of the Mojave Desert. Encompassing all of Black Mesa and nearby foothills, washes, alluvial fans, and valleys, it centers on a mesa about 10 miles long and around 3,600 feet high. A central wash crosses the mesa and drains southwest toward Topock Marsh on the Colorado River. Springs along the mesa’s perimeter, especially active after wet winters and summer monsoons, are a defining feature of this arid landscape. The area is valued for its distinctive desert landforms, habitat, and wildlife, including desert bighorn sheep.
