One of the earliest landowners in the Jackson Purchase, Arthur H. Davis represented Calloway, now Marshall, County in the state legislature in 1824. He also served as justice of the peace and sheriff of Calloway County, installed the first court of Graves County, and served as general in the Kentucky militia.
