The Dr. Emmet Headlee House was built in 1906 in Brewer, now Teague. Its builder, born in 1848 and died in 1918, was the son of a Methodist preacher who was also a Confederate Army surgeon in the Civil War, and he in turn was the father and grandfather of doctors. He came to Texas in 1866 and became a planter, church leader, Brewer's first postmaster, civic leader, peace officer, banker, druggist, school trustee, Mason, and a citizen who influenced railroad building. It is Teague's oldest home.
