The second Oakland Avenue bridge was constructed on this site in 1936 as a single-span, open-spandrel, reinforced-concrete arch bridge with a span of 331 feet. It was an excellent example of this type of bridge and a good example of a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project in the state.
