The Robert E. Young Cabin is the oldest standing dwelling in Johnson City. It was built in 1776 on property near Bush Creek later held by the U.S. Government. It was restored in 1938 by the Veterans Administration and the John Sevier Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. It was relocated to Optimist Park in 1978 and relocated to Winged Deer Park in 1996. It was dedicated on June 5, 1999 to honor those who preceded us and to protect this legacy for future generations, and many citizens worked to protect and restore this historical treasure.
