Edgar Provart purchased the Red Star Mill in 1918 and thereafter operated it as one of the major industries of the City of DuQuoin. The mill produced flour and feed that were sold to merchants, farmers, and area coal mines. In 1970, Lela Provart Hitt, daughter of Edgar Provert, donated the mill to the City of DuQuoin to provide municipal parking.
