The initials T. B. appeared on a boundary stone that stood near this point and marked the corner of Brookefield, a tract of 2530 acres patented in 1664 to Thomas Brooke, 1632–1676, a member of the Maryland Assembly from 1633 to 1676, Presiding Justice of the County Court in 1667, and a major in forces fighting Indians in 1667.
