The Central Overland Pony Express passed this site many times. Green Valley Road was the gateway to the gold region and the center of activity in the 1850s and 60s, where many early California inns were located. In the late 1800s, a stagecoach driven by 13-year-old Fred Dixon, a member of the Dixon family who were former owners of the property, also passed this way.
