Carpenter Hill is a low summit in the eastern Sacramento Valley–Sierra Nevada foothills within Folsom, California, north of U.S. Route 50 near the Sacramento–El Dorado county line. Rising to 831 feet, it is the highest point in Sacramento County, yet also the lowest county highpoint in California, about 97 feet lower than Mount Davidson in San Francisco County. Its significance lies less in dramatic elevation than in this unusual distinction. From its grassy summit, broad views extend across the Central Valley, and antennas and towers on the hill give it a practical role as well as a geographic one. Snow rarely falls there.
