Glen Magna Farms is a historic country estate in Danvers, Massachusetts, preserved today on eleven acres as the surviving core of a much larger North Shore property. It began during the War of 1812, when Salem merchant Joseph Peabody bought a twenty-acre property, and it eventually grew to three hundred thirty acres. The house assumed its present form in 1893 through work commissioned by Ellen Peabody Endicott, whose gardens later won the Massachusetts Horticultural Society’s Hunnewell Gold Medal in 1926. The estate is especially valued for its designed landscape, including the Derby Summer House, built in 1794 by designs of Samuel McIntire and moved here in 1901.
