Lakeville Swamp is a 76-acre wetland in northeastern Oakland County, Michigan, formally protected as the Lakeville Swamp Nature Sanctuary and managed by the Michigan Nature Association. Acquisition began in 1961 as the association’s fifth project. It preserves one of the county’s richest natural areas, with more than 400 recorded species of native plants, making it Oakland County’s most biologically diverse area. Its habitats include a dense white cedar swamp and support wildflowers such as marsh marigolds, twinflower, and Clintonia. Difficult terrain, including unstable muck, poison sumac, and rattlesnakes, has helped keep the interior largely undisturbed and protected.
