Green Sergeant's Covered Bridge spans Wickecheoke Creek in Delaware Township, New Jersey, near the line between the Hunterdon Plateau and the Amwell Valley. Built in 1872 and designed by Charles Ogden Holcombe of Lambertville, it is New Jersey's last surviving historic covered bridge, making it an unusually important remnant of the state's earlier road network. Its name preserves the memory of the Sergeant family, tied to the property since Charles Sergeant bought the land in 1805 and Richard Green Sergeant later inherited it. Damaged in 1960, the bridge was dismantled, then rebuilt in 1961 with original materials after public protest, and it remains a symbol of local preservation.
