Winters Lodge No. 743, A.F. & A.M., was founded in the upper room of a schoolhouse ten years before Winters became a town. It was chartered on Dec. 7, 1892. Its first officers were J.T. Brown, Worshipful Master; Ervin Brown, Senior Warden; and W.S. Mullin, Junior Warden. After a 1910 fire, the lodge moved to its present hall.
