Macedonia Baptist Church was organized in 1850. It was originally located near Old Blue Mountain Cemetery and moved to the Deentown community in 1885. In the early 1900s and again in 1975, the church was destroyed by tornadoes. Its first pastor was Rev. Allen Godwin, and Mark Lowery, a former CSA general and founder of Blue Mountain Female Institute, also served as pastor.
