Fry's Foods began at this location in 1954 when Donald Fry acquired Ray's Market from Ray Dickenson. Charles Fry joined his brother in 1955, and together they expanded the original store into a 41-store grocery chain that they sold in 1972. Charles then gave part of the proceeds to his three sons, helping them open the first store of what became the successful Fry's Electronics retail chain.
