James and Elizabeth Cant purchased this property in 1910 and over the following five decades built the ranch here. In their early operations, the methods they used were later replaced with more modern machinery and techniques as they adopted new technology that changed rapidly during their lifetimes. In the early and mid-1900's, this family of six made a home and a life for themselves in this isolated area, ranching first sheep and later cattle.
