Bethel Historic Cemetery was established in 1811 on land donated by Indian Chief Riley. It has also been known as Kingston Historical Burying Ground, Presbyterian Cemetery, Old Kingston Cemetery, and Cemetery Hill. Restoration from 2000 to 2002 involved City of Kingston officials Mayor Diane McKeethan, Vice Mayor Betty Taylor, Council Members Bobby Bedwell, Sarah Humphreys, Kevin McClure, Tim Neal, and Don White, City Manager Gary Humphreys, and the Southwest Point Chapter, NSDAR, under Regent Mary C. Bell.
