In a nearby cemetery is the grave of Dr. Henry Ruffner, an eminent theologian and writer called the father of Presbyterianism in the Kanawha region. After his ministry, he became head of Washington College in Lexington, Virginia. He wrote the Ruffner Pamphlet.
