Sandy Hook includes prickly pear cactus, park trails for biking or walking, salt marshes where egrets can be found, butterflies, birdwatching, and holly in coastal forests. It is also home to America's oldest lighthouse, which helped ships navigate New York Harbor, as well as stories of the people who defended the nation and its coastline and the innovation associated with the U.S. Army's first weapons proving ground.
