Fredonia is believed to have been built in 1786 by Thomas Moore, a Revolutionary soldier, brigadier general in the War of 1812, and a member of Congress. It was later owned by Andrew B. Moore, the earliest known doctor in this region, and by Thomas J. Moore, a Confederate soldier and state legislator. Fredonia was listed on the National Register of Historical Places, and the house burned in 1977.
