The area known as Ten Mile Sterrett and Ivins was opened for homesteading in 1880, and emigrants from Utah and Iceland transformed sagebrush land into productive livestock farms while befriending roaming Indians and Oregon Trail travelers. Jared Williams donated this 72 by 105 foot plot, where twenty people were buried from 1893 to 1940: Brigham Y. Adamson, Jane Banks, an unnamed Banks son, Sonny Chandler, Elosia Cornia, Mary Ann Cornia, Vindel Cornia, an unnamed Halverson son, Carbin Johnson, Enoch Johnson, Gundrun Johnson, Clint Kennedy, Ida May Knowles, an unnamed Perkins infant, Thordis Thorbjarnsdotter, and probably three others.
