Founded in 1847 on a remote frontier through the efforts of the Rev. J.E. Ferguson and the Rev. J.G. Hardin, this church was honored in 1966 by the American Association of Methodist Historical Societies as the oldest continuing congregation in the Central Texas Annual Conference.
