Cove Mountain, Pennsylvania
Nature
Cove Mountain in Perry County, south central Pennsylvania, consists of two ridge lines near Duncannon and roughly 15 miles north of Harrisburg. Part of the Ridge-and-Valley section of the Appalachian Mountains, it is identified as a syncline, a folded landform that contributes to the region’s characteristic pattern of parallel ridges and valleys. In 2017, the Pennsylvania chapter of The Nature Conservancy bought a 353-acre section of the mountain, and that tract now serves as a public nature preserve. Cove Mountain is significant both for its geological place within the Appalachians and for its current role in conservation and public outdoor access.
