At this camp, a government agent supplied provisions to those in need, and near this point the road divided, with one route leading to Jacksonville in Oregon and the other to Yreka in Northern California. By August 27, 1854, travelers recorded that volunteers considered them out of danger and left them to continue alone on a tolerably good road, and four miles from camp they reached the place where the Oregon Trail turned off to the right.
