A monument honoring worker safety at the Alpha Portland Cement plant in Jamesville stood for 84 years before being relocated to Avery Park on June 1, 2018, through the efforts of Boy Scout Haberle F. Conlon of Troop 22 as his Eagle Scout project. Local businesses donated time and heavy equipment to complete the move, allowing the monument to continue standing as a testament to those who labored safely in the once thriving local cement industry.
