Abraham Lincoln visited Pike County from 1839 to 1858 and practiced law in Pike County. He had many friends in Pike County and is documented to have visited many homes there. Charles H. Philbrick of Griggsville, who lived from 1857 to 1885, served as Lincoln's secretary from 1864 to 1865.
