Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose is a nonprofit children’s museum in downtown San Jose that serves families, schools, and the wider Bay Area through hands-on, inquiry-based learning. Opened in 1990 in a purple building designed by Ricardo Legorreta, it features extensive gallery space, outdoor nature play, and exhibits that introduce science, arts, and history through direct interaction for children age 10 and under. Beyond its galleries, it plays a major educational role through programs such as BioSITE, youth outreach, preschool partnerships, and Cultural Celebrations. With more than 9 million visitors, it has gained broad recognition for its exhibits and community impact.
