Established in 1870 by private contributions, this Confederate cemetery originally held 501 Confederates. Of those originally buried here, 238 were killed in the Battle of Wilson Creek on August 10th 1861. Most of the remaining 263 died from wounds received in battle or from sickness. Some were killed in the Battle of Springfield on January 8th 1863.
