Cromer’s Mill Covered Bridge spans Nails Creek near Carnesville, Georgia, about 8 miles south of town. Built in 1907 and also known as the Nails Creek Covered Bridge, it is one of Georgia’s surviving covered bridges. Its Town Lattice truss features a dense crisscross framework of wooden members, and the bridge rests on stone abutments with a central pier. Later changes added a steel truss of 12-inch I-beams under the north end and a single wooden pole to support one side. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, it endures as a rare reminder of rural timber bridge construction.
