Garfield County's G.A.R. monument records deceased comrades, the roster of McDowell Post No. 22 of the Department of Washington and Alaska, ex-soldiers living in Garfield County who were not members of the post, and ex-soldiers buried in Garfield County who were not members of the post. It includes the names of veterans and their Civil War military units and states that the memorial is dedicated to honor the men and women of Garfield County who served their country in World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and all other wars. The statue and plaque were donated by V.F.W. Post 2351 and the Garfield County Pioneer Association on July 4, 2000.
