Brockville Centennial Park was erected by the City of Brockville in permanent commemoration of the Centennial of Confederation in Canada in 1967, with construction made possible through the co-operation of the Province of Ontario and the Government of Canada. Brockville was incorporated as a police village in 1832, as a town in 1849, as a separated town in 1859, and as a city in 1962. Its mayors from 1867 to 1967 were W. Fitzsimmons, A.B. Dana, J.D.
