Tussey Mountain in Boalsburg, near State College and Penn State University, is a year-round recreation area at the gateway to Rothrock State Forest. Opened in December 1962 as Skimont Resort, it developed from a modest local ski hill into a broader leisure destination serving the surrounding community. The resort has 38 skiable acres, 14 trails, snow tubing, night skiing, and terrain suited to beginners as well as other local and regional users. Its close ties to Penn State remain visible in student discounts. Beyond winter, its amphitheater, lodge, and Fun Centre have made it a longstanding recreational hub for the State College area.
