Wild River State Park offers a sample of the beauty and variety of the Saint Croix River Valley and is one of five Minnesota state parks along the National Wild and Scenic Riverway. It preserves evidence of prehistoric Indian camps, fur posts, pioneer farms, an 1850s government road, railroad construction, and the site of the Nevers logging dam. Its natural and cultural history is presented year-round through programs, self-guided trails, historic sites, and exhibits, while hands-on restoration of prairie, oak savanna, and other habitats brings its natural resources to life. The park also provides accessible recreation, including views of restored native prairie and oak savanna, year-round camping, wildlife habitat along its shorelines and uplands, easy canoeing on the scenic Saint Croix River, winter activities for skiers, snowshoers, and campers, and thirty-five miles of multiple-use trails for exploration and solitude.
