Comanche Point
Nature
Comanche Point is a mountain landform in California that forms the northwestern headland and prominence of the Tejon Hills, projecting westward into the southern San Joaquin Valley west of the Tehachapi Mountains and south of Arvin. Located on Tejon Ranch within the Tejon Ranch Conservancy’s managed area, it is important for its alkaline uplifted marine sediment deposits, natural alkali springs, and marshes. These conditions support rare and locally endemic California native plants, giving the area notable ecological value even as its flora and fauna face threats from overgrazing, rooting by feral pigs, and invasive plant species.
