Crow Wing District One schoolhouse stood on this site. The earliest known formal school in the town of Crow Wing was attended by eleven children in the 1849–1850 school year. The 1860 census shows two schools, a private school run by the Episcopal mission and a public school. The first building used as a public school was a log structure. It was designated Crow Wing District One in 1869. In 1888 the frame District One schoolhouse was built on this location.
