Yankton chiefs and Sioux delegates made and signed the Treaty of 1858 with the United States of America, concluded at Washington D. C. on April 19, 1858, and ratified by the Senate on February 16, 1859. The tribal councilors kept the peace and saw that the agreements of the fifty year treaty were all fulfilled. Those associated with the treaty included Ree, Black Bear, Medicine Cow, White Swan, Pretty Boy, Feather in the Ear, Crazy Bull, Frank Deloria, Charles Picotte, Jumping Thunder, Mazahetun, Numkalipa, Running Bull, Walking Elk, Standing Elk, Bad Voice Elk, Cetanwokape, Hinhanwicasa Ihanktunwan, Fat Mandan, Little Thunder, Tunkannahomni, Lean Elk, Iron Necklace, Little Bird, Mad Walking, His Fly Pipe, Big Voice Bear, Susnakeduta Sunkamakomani, Kidowanpi, John Ree, and Frank Jandreau.
