The Lantern Village area of Dana Point preserves numerous concrete stamps in sidewalks and curbs, along with a few dated concrete lantern bases, from its early development in 1928, 1929, and 1930. Developer S. H. Woodruff promoted paved streets, curbs, sidewalks, and ornamental street lighting as improvements intended to attract people to the fledgling community. North of Coast Highway, from Chula Vista south to Green Lantern and on to Amber Lantern, stamps dated 1928 bear the name C. G. Willis and Sons. South of Coast Highway, from Green Lantern to Golden Lantern, most stamps are dated 1929 and identify S. W. Gleim, Underground Construction, and Western Construction. Many S. W. Gleim curb stamps show 192 with the 9 missing, while others have the 9 scratched in by hand, suggesting work done early in the year before a 1929 stamp was available. Underground Construction stamps dated 1929 appear on sidewalks, some concrete lantern bases, and a few curbs in this area. Many Western Construction stamps are undated, but most of the dated examples read 1930, and some dated sidewalks and curbs appear on La Cresta, El Encanto, and Violet Lantern north of Coast Highway. Original stamps from all four construction companies have been preserved, as have square concrete bases for the signature Dana Point lanterns on the west side of the median of The Street of the Blue Lantern from La Cresta to Coast Highway, and the city has continued the tradition by stamping newly replaced concrete on Coast Highway and Del Prado in the Lantern District.
