Lieutenant DuBois's 12 pounder was the biggest cannon on the battlefield. Weighing almost 3,800 pounds, it could hurl 12 pound shot about a mile. At this range, shot could easily reach targets in the Ray Cornfield and at the Ray House. Cannoneers unlimbered the piece and moved it into position, and it took 8 to 15 men and 6 horses to move each gun and limber across the battlefield.
