The Confederate soldiers of Scotland County are honored for what is presented as sublime self-sacrifice and undying devotion to duty in the service of their country, a legacy cherished by loyal posterity. Whether unknown or known to fame, they are remembered as men who died for the same cause and country and wore the gray. Their service is associated with being first at Bethel, farthest at Gettysburg and Chicamauga, and last at Appomattox, in the years 1861-1865.
