This site served as the camp-ground for commanding officers and the headquarters of the U.S. Army for the Battle of Pea Ridge, where councils of war were held. It was the camp for 10,500 soldiers, with the U.S. Army located 1 1/2 miles south and a depot of supplies 1 mile north of this site.
