Carolina Beach State Park is a 761-acre park on Pleasure Island in North Carolina along the Cape Fear River and Snow’s Cut, part of the Intracoastal Waterway. The state owns 420 acres and leases the remainder from the Department of the Army. The park is especially important for its pocosin wetlands, a distinctive habitat that supports rare carnivorous plants including Venus flytraps, pitcher plants, butterworts, and bladderworts. It also offers access to both shoreline and woodland environments through six miles of hiking trails, a marina, campsites, a picnic area, and a visitor center with natural history exhibits.
