In 1887, W. Meisenheimer built a 25x80 two-story brick building for his mercantile business from locally made brick, with a 25x70 frame hardware building on the back. Purchased by RB Christy in 1902, it housed 1st State Bank and 1st National Bank. The Electric Café was also built on this site, later known as the Wallace Café and the City Café. The present building was built in 1962.
